Women’s Action Forum
WAF is an information & resource centre for women and their families. The mission of the Women’s Action Forum (WAF) is to empower women, particularly ethnic minority women. We do this by promoting the concept of self improvement through the dissemination of information in areas of training, education, employment, enterprise and equal opportunities in practice.
The objectives of WAF are to combat the different barriers faced by women in the Greater Manchester area. WAF is based in the heart of Moss Side and being based on a main road into and out of the city of Manchester it makes for easy access to everyone.
The Women’s Action Forum provides the following to our service users:
• Private Day Nursery
• Counselling Service to the community
• Provides a range of sexual health services and education to pregnant teenagers and young mothers between the ages of 16-25
• WAF is an accredited training centre that delivers various courses and training programmes.
• WAF offers an Information, Advice & Guidance service by qualified staff
• WAF is a centre approved by the British Council to deliver the European Voluntary Service Programme for 19-25 year olds, enabling them to volunteer within the EU
• WAF provides advice and guidance on careers and job preparation
The women’s Action Forum is a centre that has been approved/accredited by:
• Ofsted
• NDNA
• Matrix Quality Standard
• OCR – Oxford, Cambridge and R.S.A Examination Board
• BCS – British Computer Society
The Forum holds the Matrix Quality Standards. The standards exists to assist organisations in identifying and following the best practice in the delivery of information advice and guidance services.
